Physics and angels

Jenny: ” I see that ivory tower physicists are trying to take over heaven. Didn’t they used to worry about how many angels could dance on the head of a pin?”

Professor Wiggly: ” Ah, you’ve heard about Stephen Hawking’s theory that if his assumptions are right – and they are only unproven assumptions – then we don’t need a God to explain the origin of the universe. Other physicists in other ivory towers scribbling merrily away on their blackboards disagree with Hawking’s assumptions. At this stage it’s  like arguing about how many universes can fit on the head of a pin. God is safe, God doesn’t have to worry about theoretical physicists playing mathematical games – after all they’re using his or her blackboard.”
