The trouble with atheism

Jenny: “Check out ‘the trouble with atheism’ on the internet. It presents a pretty fair case that religion, atheism and science all rely on unproven assumptions, all provide their promoters with ways of helping deal with uncertainty.”

Professor Wiggly: “Ah yes. Religion assists us deal with those aspects of life in which we feel helpless and frightened, and for which no information is available – such as the information about the future. Science helps us deal with situations in which some information is available and provides incomplete  but helpful stepping-stones across current uncertainties. Athiesm , like religion, provides its believers with the feeling that they are special – that they are chosen – atheists believe they are smarter than the rest of us! They gain confidence by focusing on the limitations of religi0us beliefs while ignoring the limitations of their own.”
